告摘要:
Polymerization-induced phase separation in chemically cross-linking systems has been applied to obtain hierarchically porous materials in a broad range of compositions from metal oxides, metalloxane-based hybrids and even to fully organic polymers. In conventional silica compositions, highly-tenuous macroporous gels composed of fully templated cylindrical mesopores have been synthesized and characterized. Independent control of macro- and mesopores has been achieved. The use of co-surfactant and micelle-swelling additives in ethylene bridged silsesquioxane system enabled one to modify the mesoporous skeleton geometries, from very thin disk, short column, to long strand. In alkoxy-derived or colloid-based pure titania and zirconia systems, polymeric additives are used to modify the dynamics of phase domains in the course of sol-gel transition. Slower kinetics of coarsening gel domains prevents undesired deformation and fragmentation of co-continuous skeletons, which resulted in sharpened pore size distribution. In pure alumina system containing aluminum chloride as a precursor, while propylene oxide was employed to induce homogeneous gelation, a high molecular weight poly (ethylene oxide) was used to regulate the overall phase separation kinetics of the system. The presence of highly viscous polymer in the solvent phase assisted the stable formation of co-continuous phase-separated structure until gelation. Finally, in pure organic polymer systems, an incorporation of counter polymer to the cross-linking vinyl or acrylate monomers dramatically improved the macropore structure of the resultant monolithic porous body. As a result of highly interconnected micron-scale skeletons, the mechanical strength has been significantly increased. These macro/mesoporous oxides, hybrids and polymers are being optimized for HPLC columns and other separation/purification devices with improved permeability and efficient accessibility of external molecules to the solid surfaces..

Kazuki Nakanishi博士介:
Kazuki Nakanishi, born in Osaka, Japan in 1961, graduated from Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University in 1983, and majored in physical chemistry of polymeric solids in Department of Industrial Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University (Masters of Engineering, 1985). He joined the research group of Professor Naohiro Soga in 1986 at Kyoto University as a research associate, where he started his first works on sol-gel synthesis of inorganic materials. He encountered the phase separation of gelling silica system in August 1987, and has been enchanted by her for over twenty years. He received his Doctor of Engineering degree from Kyoto University in 1991. He started collaborating with Prof. Nobuo Tanaka, Kyoto Institute of Technology and Dr. Hiroyoshi Minakuchi (President of Kyoto Monotech Corp.) on the development of novel HPLC columns using his monolithic silica with controlled macro- and mesopores. The commercialization of the columns was achieved in collaboration with Merck KGaA, Germany. The first HPLC column was released worldwide in October 2000, and it received the Gold Award of Pittsburgh Conference in 2001. During the above period, he was promoted to associate professor in 1995, received D.R. Ulrich Prize in 1997 and ICG Prize in Memory of Prof. Vittorio Gottardi in 1999. He stayed in Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany as a visiting professor invited by Prof. Klaus Unger in autumn 2000. He moved to Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University in 2005 where he continues extending his activity on sol-gel derived porous materials. He was awarded Academic Prize of the Ceramic Society of Japan in 2006. Kazuki Nakanishi is the author of >180 publications with >5600 total citations, the holder of >40 patents, and the co-author of 20 books. He has been serving as a co-editor of Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology since April 2009. He is the member of the American Ceramic Society, Materials Research Society, Board Members of International as well as Japanese Sol-Gel Societies, and also the member of several other Japanese societies related to materials and analytical chemistry.
