To gain an indication of the research interests of our staff please look at the projects described athttp://www.materials.ox.ac.uk/admissions/postgraduate/newprojects.html (those in both the ‘funded’ and ‘unfunded sections’). These are full PhD projects, rather than short summer projects, but they will give you an up to date idea of the current research in our Department. Having identified possible areas of interest then you can also look at the webpages of members of staff in whose work you are interested. Please note that the following Professors will not be able to offer summer projects this year: M. Castell, J. Warner & A.Watt.
Please choose three or four Oxford Materials research groups and topics in which you would be interested in carrying out a summer project and let me have this list in order of preference. In addition please provide a CV, a letter of reference from your tutor to include your GPA (or equivalent) to date, and a short letter in which you explain why you are interested in the particular research topics on your list of four preferences.
